Lullaby Project

Description

I want to create a collection of lullabies for the intimate and vulnerable moments that beg for comfort and quiet. I love sweet melodies (and I believe there will be some), but I also want to explore what it means to find this state of calm: a contemporary perspective of the lullaby in today’s complicated world. Vulnerability can be painful; intimacy can be just as heavy as it can be fragile; quiet can come after a storm. Everybody needs a lullaby sometimes, which can traverse a wide range of feelings before we get to our destination.

Through your music, I want to share what this means to you. To me, this means I sometimes bathe in the warmth that I seek through soft music and the comfort of my dearest loved ones, but other times I have to traverse darkness and sadness alone to release into a state of groundedness (usually by blasting Boxcar Racer in a dark room!).

Neuma Records has agreed to release this album after releasing my first solo album last summer titled Cello Unlocked. Dissemination will be comprehensive across all streaming platforms.

Payment

I am seeking funding from several sources, but the most promising won’t be available until the end of the spring semester. If that timeline does not work for you, I will try to pay in full upon delivery of the score. Although I am applying for grants to cover commission fees and recording/editing/production fees, all aspects of this project are currently self-funded. (Shout out to my wife for her support!)
